Central Missions

Why do we focus on missions?

The Gospel is not just for us, but for the masses and God empowers us to take it to them. (Acts 1:8)

“You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” (2 Corinthians 3:2-3)

Because God has written His letter of love, hope and salvation on our hearts, a natural Next Step is to live sent. To intentionally deliver His message to His intended recipients.

Missions is not a choice but a response to what God has done for us.

“For the love of Christ controls us, . . . Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-19)

Serving others in our community

Jesus met physical needs as a means of opening a Kingdom dialogue. At Central, we do not meet needs just because there is a need, but because we realize those without Christ have a greater need which they may not yet recognize.

We currently partner with these ministries in our community:

• The Pregnancy Center, Sanford

• Harvest Time International, Sanford

• Rescue Outreach Mission, Sanford

• The SafeHouse of Seminole

Our Serve Team is tasked with being good stewards of Central’s resources as we meet needs in Jesus name. Some service is as small as changing a light bulb in someone’s home to much, much larger opportunities requiring many hands. If you are interested in serving locally, contact the Serve Team through this link. Serve Team.

Serving on a short-term mission team

Some service requires us to step outside of our comfort zone and perhaps away from home for a few days. These service opportunities may be in Florida, other states or even internationally. Romans 10:14-15 makes it clear that in order for people to hear the Gospel someone must go. We go where God invites us to join Him.

We currently have ongoing partnerships with:

• Forgotten Children Ministries in Honduras

• Ministries to immigrants and refugees in Western Europe

• Ministries to immigrants and refugees in New York

If you are interested in learning more about short term opportunities, please contact our office.

Longer term opportunities to serve

For those who sense a call to something greater, there are longer term opportunities to serve internationally. These range from a couple of months up to two years. Adults from college age until their senior years can serve effectively. If you are interested in learning more about these types of opportunities, please contact our office.

Going all in, missions as a vocation

Sometimes God gives a special call to people to join Him as a vocation. There are still billions of people in the world with little or no access to the Gospel. Becoming a sent out one, is God’s plan of getting His message of hope to them. You can explore the requirements and opportunities by following this link. Going all in.

Church Partnerships

Central has a special connection with the Op Weg (Journey) Church in Gentbrugge, Belgium. Central joined with local believers and International Mission Board Missionaries to be a part of planting this church in a community where there were no other churches. The focus of the church is to be the church in the community. You too can be connected to Op Weg through this link http://www.opweg.org/. The site is in Dutch. If you'd like to communicate with them, click on this link http://teamflanders.org/OpWegSite/contacteer-ons/. You will have to enter your name (naam) and email address (email). Onderwerp is the subject and the message goes in the bericht box. You can write in English as many people there speak English.
